About Us
Tomlyn the Goatherd Gardener
Over the past 15 years I have worked on many dairy goat farms, herded sheep and goats, and packed goats in the wilderness. I have also worked on regenerative agriculture and permaculture farms, native plant nurseries, and I ran my own gardening business in Albuquerque for 5 years. In the past two years I have integrated my goats into my gardening business for brush clearing and land remediation and this past summer we moved to Northern New Mexico and we are now based in Dixon.
I have a small herd of 9 beautiful goats with up to 8 more kids due to be born this spring. I love their playful and rebellious spirit and that they are just as loving and affectionate with humans as dogs. Beyond their endearing and adorable qualities, they are also incredibly hardy and tough animals with a wide range useful skills. They are the most surefooted pack animals, excellent weed and brush managers, garden fertilizers, and milk producers to name a few.
My ancient Irish ancestors herded goats for thousands of years, the human - goat kinship is deep in my bones. This is not only my passion but a way of life that helps me to reconnect to the Earth and build relationship with her many beings, from the soil microorganisms and mycelium to the plants and animals. I believe goats are a vital ally for humans to work with to remediate the harm we have caused to our beautiful planet.
